The Central Division for Continuing
Education and Professional Studies was created in 1981, under
the Deanship for Academic Affairs of the Medical Sciences Campus
of the University of Puerto Rico. From its beginning, this Division
has consistently reaffirmed its mission: to provide academic
programs and activities which are both innovative and excellence
– with or without academic credit. These activities are
aimed at facilitating
new learning experiences to non traditional students. At a time
when the learning of facts, values, and concepts is no longer
considered permanent, it becomes a great task
and responsibility to update such acquisition of knowledge.
In the fields of health care, research, scientific and technological
evolution, we face the greatest challenges, which requires the
constant search for innovative solutions.
For twenty-three years after its creation, the Division has
been co-sponsoring diverse educational activities especially
designed for health professionals, as well as professionals
in other fields.
The Central Division for Continuing Education and Professional
Studies has, among its responsibilities, offering support
to the other divisions on campus on the continuing
education policies within the University of Puerto Rico System.
At the same time it represents the continuing education component
of the Medical Sciences Campus at the central level of the
University of Puerto Rico System.
In addition, this Division represents the Deanship for Academic
Affairs on the Government Ethics Committee of the Medical
Sciences Campus, as established by the
Ethics Law of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. |
