Welcome

The School of Health Professions (SHP), Medical Sciences Campus (MSC), University of Puerto Rico (UPR) continues its tradition of promoting collaboration and networking by celebrating the 5th Hispanic Congress of Health Professions. As an outcome of this initiative, the MSC School of Medicine joined the SHP in the development of formal academic programs for clinical research training with the support of a grant from the National Institutes of Health ( NIH) .

Consonant with this effort and following the previous successful experience of joint celebrations, both Schools have gathered to organize the 5th Hispanic Congress with the 2nd Multidisciplinary Conference in Clinical Research, this last one co-sponsored by NIH.  This joint effort supports and enhances collaboration between multiple disciplines and helps to share new scientific discoveries, education tendencies and healthcare perspectives among different health professionals for a better quality of life.

Our institution is honored by the participation of distinguished leaders in education, practice and clinical research in this event. The main theme will integrate these activities, focusing on new tendencies, perspectives and findings that are relevant to children and adolescent health.

Emergent topics and issues relevant to psychosocial development, physical development and behavior will be presented and discussed. Information about local and national community-based initiatives, as well as research and educational community projects directed toward the improvement of children’s, adolescent’s and families’ health and well being will be shared. Topics about knowledge and management of risk factors will be emphasized for the improvement of education, health promotion and disease prevention. Discussion will include topics related to new frontiers, perspectives and situations in   health care disparities; influence of genetics in personalized medicine and the development of conditions such as autism; mental health; chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes and obesity.

We look forward for your active participation and hope that this event will promote the development of multidisciplinary alliances and collaborative agreements to help increase the number and excellence in  education , service and research  projects aimed at children and adolescent health , who are our future’s hope.
